Annual Media Review – 2015

Annual Media Review

2014-2015

Introduction This report is designed to give a comprehensive evaluation of the ATLP’s media activities between the period of July 2014 and July 2015. Throughout the past year, the ATLP has enjoyed increased and significant media coverage across a range of platforms: broadcast (TV and radio); print and digital. This has been achieved on an international, national, regional and specialist basis, both in daily and weekly media. The ATLP has achieved 250 positive appearances in the media – including a number of front page stories – for the partnership and its schools: notably 23 appearances in the Birmingham Evening Mail (print and digital) a daily newspaper with a readership in excess of 95,000 readers (print). The Advertising Value Equivalent (AVE) of our print coverage in just three key publications: the Birmingham Mail/Post and Royal Sutton Coldfield Observer, would amount to approximately £25,000 ( this is a ‘ball park’ figure based on average rates for publications, which are typically determined by a number of individual factors, including date, and page positioning). The services of a media monitoring agency would be needed to evaluate the full scale of our AVE across all platforms. While AVEs are a useful measuring tool, news coverage enables us to convey our key messages and our core values in a more meaningful and powerful way than advertising ever could alone. The Communications Office has proactively issued 43 news releases, while additional news releases issued by individual school has ensured the partnership features in the media on a weekly basis throughout the year.

ATLP Annual Media Coverage July 2014-July 2015 The table below shows all known media coverage for the ATLP and its schools.  The ATLP has achieved a total of 250 positive mentions and the table is inclusive of publications’ print and digital versions. Although this is a relatively detailed monitoring report of all recorded coverage, it is not necessarily definitive. For example, the table does not include social media Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn/bloggers/influencers etc. which are more difficult to track without using a dedicated media monitoring agency. Please note that coverage excludes the senior school headteachers’ regular ‘School Report’ columns in the CIN newspaper series. Wherever possible, audience reach is measured via readership (which is wider than circulation) unique web users and listeners/viewers. Guideline figures are sourced from the most up-to-date and available public data and media packs and are based on average findings.
