Families in Four Oaks will be coming together next weekend to celebrate the best of their community and to find out more about what the area has to offer.
The popular ‘Four Oaks Community Fair and Fun Day’ will take place at Arthur Terry School on 24th September between 10am and 1pm, and visitors and stall holders are being encouraged to come along and enjoy the day provided at their local school.
Now in its seventh year, the free annual event will feature schools, businesses, charities and other organisations. Stalls are free of charge to charities and voluntary organisations and £10 to businesses and sellers.
Residents will be able to find out more about the opportunities in their area, such as childcare, volunteering and sports. They will also be treated to displays from schools, drummers, choirs, gymnastic and dance clubs. Visitors can watch and relax while sampling Asian foods, ice cream and other refreshments. Arthur Terry’s very own Snack Shack will be serving teas and coffees. The school is a National Teaching School and aspiring teachers will be able to visit a drop in clinic at the fair.
Stallholders this year include: Four Oaks Children’s Centre and Toy Library, Yuvika Jewellery, Little Aston Community Association, handmade crafts, cards and cake making businesses, Afternoon Tea party provider, cupcakes and sweets, balloons, face painters and glitter tattoos, activities for under 5s, including music and dance classes, and party ideas. Charity groups including Beanstalk, St Giles, Mothers Union and Acorns.
This year there will also be free drop in taster sessions with Baby and Toddler Sense, Creation Station and Diddi Dance. Older children can “have a go” at netball, drama or multi sports, while the bouncy castle will offer fun for all. There really is something for everybody. All stalls are under cover so, come rain or shine, it will be a fun day for all.
Mrs Sue Bailey, Assistant Head Teacher at Arthur Terry School, said:
The community fair is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together and celebrate their community. Visitors can experience the very best of their local area and support local businesses and organisations.
The event is open to everybody and we hope people will join us as at Arthur Terry to experience the best of Four Oaks.”
