Team Arthur Terry nets a hat-trick of wins at town’s Sports Awards
Celebrations are taking place at Arthur Terry after the school enjoyed a hat-trick of wins at the annual Sutton Coldfield Sports Awards.
The prestigious event – which recognizes and celebrates the sporting achievements of schools and clubs across the area – saw students and staff walk away with three top prizes.
Year 11 student Sam Perry was awarded Junior Sports Person of the Year for his outstanding judo skills; the school’s PE team, led by John Byrne, was crowned Secondary School of the Year; and PE teacher Keith Stonebridge was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to PE.
Arthur Terry headteachers, Richard Gill and Neil Warner, said: “We’re delighted by this stellar result and proud of ‘the AT-Team’ for this sweep of victories.
Sport is very much part of the fabric of school life at Arthur Terry. These superb achievements are down to the hard work and commitment of our students and the staff, who are dedicated to giving our students the very best sporting opportunities. Enormous thanks must go to the organisers and supporters of this fantastic event, who put on another spectacular evening – and for all the nominees and schools and clubs in Sutton Coldfield, who continue to inspire and cultivate the sporting talents of young people and allow them to shine.
The news comes in the same week that Arthur Terry’s Year 7 & Year 8 girls have been crowned North Birmingham Athletics Champions, marking even more sporting success for the outstanding school.
