Holocaust survivor visits Coleshill School
Year 9 students took part in a super learning day all about the Holocaust. Students were involved in a carousel of learning activities about the increased persecution of the Jews, the Ghettos and the Final Solution.
Mindu Hornick, a Holocaust survivor, came into school to speak to students about her experiences as a 12-year-old child during the Holocaust in Auschwitz concentration camp. Mindu, now 86, survived along with her older sister, Eva. Mindu told students:
We arrived at the camp in a cattle carriage, there were 70 of us, all women, mothers and children.”
Mr Smith-Childs, headteacher, said:
This has been a wonderful learning experience for the students, especially listening to Mindu and her incredible story.”
