Prize students from the Stockland Green School joined TV presenter Emma Jesson and footballing star Lee Hendrie at a red carpet awards ceremony in Birmingham last night.
The Birmingham Virtual School KS3 Celebration awards evening, which took place on 10 March at the Holte Suite at Villa Park Stadium, celebrates the achievements of pupils.
The Olympics themed event featured six award categories, with a winner from Year 7, 8 and 9 in each category. Stockland Green School saw three pupils nominated and all of them took the winning prize.
Mellissa Allen received the attendance award for Year 9; Sarah Allen received the attendance award for Year 8; while Dale Hickman received the Paralympic Values’ award of determination, inspiration, courage or equality for Year 8.
All young people were treated to a red carpet entrance, tour of the stadium, £10 voucher, and an evening of games and entertainment including a virtual car, air hockey, photo-booth and basketball games.
Prizes were presented by ITV weather presenter, Emma Jesson and former Aston Villa player, Lee Hendrie.
Catherine Harding, head of Year 9 at Stockland Green School, said:
I felt very privileged and overwhelmed tonight by the work and care of the wonderful people I spent the evening with and who provide young people with life changing chances to ensure they are successful and achieve’.
