On Wednesday 21 November 2018 regional employers were invited to a Careers Fair at the Coleshill School to meet with students in all year groups.
This was the first Careers Fair to be held at the Coleshill School, part of the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP), with more than 15 employers and training organisations in attendance. Experts in industry and education gave students an insight into the workplace, providing first-hand advice and information about jobs and apprenticeships, college and university guidance, as well as training opportunities.
A number of companies and training organisations attended, including: BMW, Plott Creative, Speak to a Uni, PS Recruitment, the Royal Navy, Allied Healthcare, Evans Derry Solicitors, the Academy of Contemporary Music, Loughborough University, Coventry University, the University of Birmingham, Balfour Beatty, Marriott Forest of Arden, SERTEC, Soccer Assist, BMet and Solihull College.
Mrs Eileen Bishop, careers lead, said:
This has been a fantastic opportunity for all of our students to meet with employers and training organisations. They gave our students the opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation, ask questions and be inquisitive about their career choices and aspirations for their future. Our whole school is very grateful to the companies and organisations for giving their time to support our students.”
Rachel Starkey, of Sertec, said:
“Thank you to the team at The Coleshill School for letting Sertec participate in the event. It’s fantastic to meet and engage with students who are genuinely keen to find out more about careers in the local area and asked some fantastic questions about engineering!”
Kate Kukla, of the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), said:
“What a fantastic careers fair. Speaking to such enthusiastic students was brilliant. The future looks bright!”
