In the event’s 16th year, Eftihios Christou and Kiara Swaby ably represented Arthur Terry in Sutton Coldfield’s Schools’ annual debating competition coming out as overall 2019 winners; having persuaded the audience and judging panel of the right to introduce congestion charges in the first round of the competition and skillfully arguing in favour of animal testing as the ‘lesser of two evils’ in the challenging, unseen final round.
The two Arthur Terry year 12 students were ably supported by numerous peers who both attended in support on the night and in terms of script writing preparations.
A huge thanks to Mr Lomas who steps down as lead teacher for the senior debating team on such a high as well as his protégé, Mr Herron who will hopefully guide next year’s team as we host the 2020 competition at Arthur Terry.
Congratulations also to our ATLP partner school, John Willmott, who scooped a superb second place overall.
